Subject: Need to enforce ban on loudspeakers after 10 p.m.
Sir,
Through your esteemed columns, I wish to highlight the serious problem of noise pollution caused by loudspeakers used late at night during weddings and festivals. In almost every colony, loud music and religious discourses continue beyond midnight, disturbing students, patients and senior citizens.
The Supreme Court has already restricted the use of loudspeakers between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., but the rule is openly flouted. I request the administration to impose heavy fines and seize equipment in case of violation. Only strict enforcement can give us peaceful nights and protect public health.
Yours sincerely

Q. Justify the title “The Rattrap”. (6 marks)
Answer: The title is highly appropriate. The peddler views the whole world as a big rattrap offering baits like riches, joy, shelter and food. People get trapped by touching these baits. He himself gets trapped when he steals thirty kronor. But the kindness and compassion shown by Edla acts like a force that raises him out of the rattrap of the world and gives him a new life of dignity.
Q. How did the hundredth tiger take its revenge on the Tiger King? (8 marks – Outside Delhi 2024)
Answer (148 words – full marks answer):
The astrologer had predicted that the Tiger King would be killed by the hundredth tiger. The king killed ninety-nine tigers but the hundredth one fainted due to the shock of the bullet sound. The hunters later killed it. The king thought the prophecy was wrong.
On his son’s third birthday, the king gifted a wooden tiger made by an unskilled carpenter. While playing, a tiny sliver pierced the king’s right hand. Infection spread to the whole arm and in four days the king died of blood poisoning. Ironically, the hundredth tiger – though made of wood and very small – took its final revenge. Thus the prophecy came true in an unexpected way.
